Born in Nicaragua, Ivette Cabrera migrated to the United States at a time of political and societal turmoil in Nicaragua. Born to a single mother of three, Ivette made her presence in the Miami art scene with a unique style of art that represents identity in societies and the way that the "self" is interpreted through creative manifestations of the mind. Each art piece is meant to be a reflection of an individual need to express ourselves without the societal labels placed on the self. The headdress in each piece therefore becomes an extension of the mind and a constant reminder of individual potential.
