  • Artist Spotlight - Charlie Immer

This month's artist spotlight goes to, envelope please...Charlie Immer.  Who is this fun artist who's artwork displays globs of goo with a fun twist? Charlie Immer is an American fine artist and illustrator. He was born in 1983 and lives in Maryland with a collection of skeletons and candy. Drawing inspiration from horror films, cartoons, nature, candy, and video games, Charlie enjoys dissecting his subjects which creates a contrast between colorful simple characters and the complex beauty of the anatomy within them. His work has been shown across the nation and has appeared been featured in magazines like Juxtapoz and Hi-Fructose. Immer holds a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Prints on Wood recently released one of Charlie's art pieces called "Fester" and it sold out quickly.

Fester has a colorful array of globs that add a sense of humor to a complex image.  Why make the blood typical red when other color options are so much more appealing?  That is one of the traits that Charlie brings to his work.

"The contrast of the smooth bodies and the complex systems beneath spilling out is very appealing to me. As I’m painting I also try to assign flavors to my characters like blueberry and green apple.” – Charlie Immer

Lets take a look at some other fun prints by Charlie.

What is so unique about Charlie as an artist is the ability to incorporate horror images with a cartoonish flair.  You will see a commonality of the use with skeletons in his artwork.

Prints on Wood is thrilled to have had this opportunity to offer "Fester" to art fans and look forward to working with Charlie again in the future.

  • Artist Spotlight - Anna Tillett

What do you get when you mix food with fun, quirky and pure imagination?  Well, as artist Anna Tillett would describe her own works  as - "a hootenanny of all things cute and illustrated."

Anna's artwork takes you to a world of sweet sensations and childhood memories that bring nothing but a smile to your face.  Her illustrations are so colorful and detailed, you can almost taste the sprinkles on the ice cream, smell the donut or hear the voice of the painted character with their cat eye glasses with a slight snobbish tone of voice.  Lets take a look of some of Anna's artwork that Prints on Wood has to offer - beware...can cause a slight appetite surge.

    Courtesan Au Chocolat

Now this print is just too adorable. What you will find with Anna's prints is the humorous and human look on a food or animal form that adds a fun twist to your art collection.

    Thin MInt

Calling all Girl Scouts or cookie lovers!  Yup, those Thin Mint cookies are just too hard to pass up.  This cool cookie radiates tastiness.

    Cotton Candy Carnie

Carnie's soft spun hair just melts in your mouth.  One of Anna's quote's about her artwork is "Drawing cute stuff is serious business."  We could not agree more.

    Kiss Me

Looking for a great Valentine's Day print?  We've got the perfect image for you.  I love how Anna's prints have the slight annoyed look in their eyes, which contradicts the sweetness they resemble.  There are so many prints to choose from with this artists, who could just choose one?

  • Vintage Prints - A Photo With A Story

Photographs tell a story.  What the stories are, we may never know, however, we are intrigued by the uniqueness of the images and words they never speak. We have some great vintage photo art prints that would be great conversation pieces to add to your walls.

    Museum Wood Print

This is a great photo image.  Its old, but yet the colors pop. You are drawn to the bold red doors and curious what is behind the glass. This photo image would look amazing in a room full of books or old antiques.

    Cut and Color Wood Print

I can only imagine the conversations that took place here.  This haunting, yet quieting photo image makes you wonder...where did everyone go?  The bright lime green walls are downplayed by the subtle brown chairs and peeling paint from the walls which appears like confetti on the ground. If you enjoy the beauty of deserted, storytelling photos, this is a winner.

    El Cortez Wood Print

Old buildings such as this have such stunning architecture.  Everything from the windows to the ledges are so impressive.  This image of the El Cortez hotel would hang beautifully by itself or in accompaniment with other images.  The El Cortez is a landmark hotel that was built in 1926 in San Diego and once was the tallest building in the city.  Now this is a picture that has many stories about it.

    No Vacancy Wood Print

I love how this photo art image has the rough edges on it which gives it an old vintage look.  The block glass windows and color of the building draw you in.  Photo art can be fun, nostalgic, sad, youthful, angry, haunting, soothing and many other things.  The image may already have a story about it, or you can create a story with the images on your walls.

    Captain America shield Wood Print

With prints on the other end of the spectrum; the kind of artwork that makes a political statement. Artist Ploid of "Stay Woke" (pictured below) says on his Facebook bio page that "It is my desire to break apart and examine our unconscious, assumed notions of interpersonal politics." This is definitely an artist that breaks away from the social "norm."

    Stay Woke Wood Print

  • Artist Spotlight: Jeff Gillette

You saw our new exclusive print right? The Disneyland Sign “Dead” print by Jeff Gillette? If you didn’t you should click this link right now and go check it out because each fine art wood print is hand numbered and signed by Gillette and … but don't wait, we only have a limited amount.

Jeff Gillette paintings often examine the aesthetic structures and visual patterns of human settlement. He believes there is something great behind the obviously chaotic and desperate appearance of these places. Gillette also sees ironic and amusing juxtapositions that occur when Disney, corporate logos, and pop icons from consumer culture shows up as building blocks of shanty settlement construction.

We have worked with Gillette before on another print you may have seen. The print was called, Castle Slum and also was a print that involved Disney. Unfortunately, this print is now sold out so if I were you, I would jump on the chance to purchase his new print before it sells out!

  • Artist Spotlight: Jason Limon

Prints on Wood was recently visited by artist, Jason Limon! He stopped by to personally sign each fine art piece we had printed. This piece is called Light and is a limited edition fine art custom wood print with only 20 copies!

Jason Limon is both a painter and a sculptor. His amazing work has been displayed all over the United States in multiple galleries. His work has also reached some parts of Europe as well. He style is based on mythological creatures and paranormal cryptids portrayed with a hint of humor with a dose of strangeness. We have worked with Limon many times previously and each of his works sell out time after time! They are a real crowd favorite.

Here is another piece that demonstrates Limon’s style. This one is called Meridiem. Through this piece you can see his character brought to life in dimensional form. With the previous knowledge of how quickly Limon’s pieces sell I would definitely jump on the opportunity now.

  • Jason Brammer's Open Studio Party

All photos in this post were provided by Carasco Photography

Recently we were given the opportunity to produce some custom size art wood prints for artist Jason Brammer. Jason Brammer is a visual artist, painter, and muralist based in Chicago, Illinois. Brammer is well known for surreal paintings and drawings, murals, and site-specific installations. Brammer has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications. Brammer has also created a large-scale public mural for the city of Chicago, a live painting for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, installations for LinkedIn and Dark Matter Coffee, and concert posters for My Morning Jacket, Todd Rundgren, and Robert Plant & The Band Of Joy.

Brammer recently hosted an open studio party on April 8, 2017 5-9P.M. The event was an exhibition of Brammer’s original art. New art pieces and prints were displayed for the first time during the event. The party was hosted at their Humboldt Park studio Chicago, Illinois. The event was open to the public and admission was free for everyone. The event was extremely successful with over 400 people who attended the event. Additionally, the event also had an array of festivities that added high excitement to the party. There was beer, tacos, coffee, a dragon cake, dj sets, and a musical performance by Brammer himself! They even built a halfpipe inside the studio for attendees to do some skateboarding.

We were asked to produce a variety of wood prints for the open studio party! They were displayed and put up for sale at the merchandise booth during the party. The art pieces were stunning and we were so excited to be producing the wood prints for Brammer. We asked how the pieces sold and were told that the pieces were very popular and that a few sold out at the event!

We have a ton more photos from the event that you must see! Take a look at all the exciting photos below from the event.

DJ sets were performed by Sky Society.

A musical performance by Jason was performed involving tribal drum and bass loops layered with lush atmospheric soundscapes.

We are so happy that we had the chance to take part in this great event!

  • Artist Spotlight: Nick Walker

I’m sure that you’ve seen at least one of our collaborations with artist, Nick Walker. We have had the pleasure of working with Walker a couple of times and each time has been amazing! If you didn’t know, Walker is one of the world’s best known street artists. He always tries to remain as innovative as possible while being modern and thought-provoking as well. His graffiti is a result of very controlled and intricate stenciling but he doesn’t forget to channel the high energy of graffiti as well!

A couple years ago we had the honor of producing Walker’s piece, Painting the Town Red / Hong Kong Street Scene Two. Only 25 of these prints were produced! They were extremely limited and were highly desired because of the how highly sophisticated yet modern the print is. Not to mention, the print was signed by Walker himself!

Recently, we had the opportunity to work with Walker once again! This exclusive print is called Vandal vs Louboutin. It is another extremely limited print with only 50 prints available! These prints are also signed by Nick Walker and are available on our site right now. Hopefully you’ll be able to snag one of these prints before they are gone forever!
