  • Artist Spotlight - Charlie Immer

This month's artist spotlight goes to, envelope please...Charlie Immer.  Who is this fun artist who's artwork displays globs of goo with a fun twist? Charlie Immer is an American fine artist and illustrator. He was born in 1983 and lives in Maryland with a collection of skeletons and candy. Drawing inspiration from horror films, cartoons, nature, candy, and video games, Charlie enjoys dissecting his subjects which creates a contrast between colorful simple characters and the complex beauty of the anatomy within them. His work has been shown across the nation and has appeared been featured in magazines like Juxtapoz and Hi-Fructose. Immer holds a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Prints on Wood recently released one of Charlie's art pieces called "Fester" and it sold out quickly.

Fester has a colorful array of globs that add a sense of humor to a complex image.  Why make the blood typical red when other color options are so much more appealing?  That is one of the traits that Charlie brings to his work.

"The contrast of the smooth bodies and the complex systems beneath spilling out is very appealing to me. As I’m painting I also try to assign flavors to my characters like blueberry and green apple.” – Charlie Immer

Lets take a look at some other fun prints by Charlie.

What is so unique about Charlie as an artist is the ability to incorporate horror images with a cartoonish flair.  You will see a commonality of the use with skeletons in his artwork.

Prints on Wood is thrilled to have had this opportunity to offer "Fester" to art fans and look forward to working with Charlie again in the future.

  • Prints On Wood - Giving Back

Now is the time for all of us to band together and help those in need.  Here is one way we can give back to those who have been affected by the recent hurricanes.  Starting today, Prints on Wood is giving $5 of every order to the Direct Relief to help the victims of these tragic events.  The give back campaign is running from September 12, 2017 - October 12, 2017.

Prints on Wood wants to do what we can to help those who are suffering from the natural disasters that have hit Texas, Florida and the southern states.  All of us can make a difference, no matter how small it may seem.

  • Artist Spotlight - Sugar Fueled

Prints on Wood was recently visited by artist, Sugar Fueled/Michael Banks! Michael stopped by to personally sign each fine art piece we had printed. This piece is called Cream and is a limited edition fine art custom wood print that has already sold out.

    Sugar Fueled - Cream

Michael Banks is a freelance artist from Burbank, CA who specializes in pop surrealism, lowbrow oil paintings and comics filled with cute, big eyed characters and animals in colorful, candy filled scenes. Michael planted his roots as an artist over 22 years ago selling tattoo flash around the world and has since ventured in tattoos, clothing, music, street art, stencil pop art, sketch cards, children's stories and comics that have led him to the sweet world that he resides and paints in today. Michael's art has taken on adventures in every major city across the United States.  Lets take a look at some of the other adorable sweet and yummy prints that we have printed of Michael's artwork.

    Before Cream, there was Frosting.

Spooky is a Boo-tiful creation perched on top of a mound of yumminess.

Lastly, there is Sprinkle.  Who wouldn't love this tempting sweet donut with the wide eyed kitty?

Sugar Fueled art pieces are great for all ages and play on the emotions of sweetness, innocence and playfulness.  Watch for the next edition from Sugar Fueled, they are a limited editions and sell out quickly.

  • Above the grain

What makes wood prints so appealing to the eye is the natural wood grain that shows through. This feature enhances the artfulness of one's print that will last for many years.  How do we do this? By printing an image directly on the wood itself...lets take a look.

This beautiful print was printed on our 100% birch wood in landscape orientation.  Amazing!  The colors show through so clearly and the natural wood grain looks perfect with the couple's natural background, the ocean.

Not just your ordinary champion trophy here.  This shield was also printed on our birch wood with a vintage matte finish (raw wood finish) and the final touches of cutting it into shape.  I love how the wood grain gives this trophy a rustic, masculine look.

Here is another stunning wood print that shows off all the details of this country style home.  This image was printed on our hand cut and hand sanded birch wood and they added a natural gloss finish.  I love how the sepia tone meshed with the wood grain gives this custom wood print a vintage look.  Now that you have seen the options available for direct wood printing, you can get started with your custom wood print order.  No two pieces of wood are the same so each wood print truly is a one of a kind. Ready, set, print!

  • Think outside the box

Looking for a way to capture your audience's attention, be a little edgy and have a product that last?  Look no further - two of our customers saw the potential of "thinking outside the box" for their marketing pieces.

Goa Taco printed their menus on wood - Looks great! Simple, but has that hip look.  Goa Taco is everything but ordinary, so why have ordinary signs?  If you have never been to this establishment, they have locations in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and New York.  It is a taco like no other...Who's hungry??  Let's Goa and get some good food! You'll recognize the great wood prints.

Kobrick Coffee, who has been in business for over 90 years in New York City, created a beautiful vintage matte sign with our black frame for their famous Gelato.  The vintage matte finish allows the wood grain to show through which gives the artwork a natural look and feel.  Thinking outside the box and finding new ways to market your products is where we can help!
