How to use Prints on Wood's Image Effects on your photos.

How do I know if my artwork will look good printed on wood?

Good question. When selecting the finishing options to be printed on wood, you should consider the following:

By selecting Bright White Finish, no wood grain will show through your image making it really stand out when printed. This finish is a perfect option for close up family photos, black and white photography, and fine art images.

When selecting Vintage Matte or Natural Gloss finish options the natural lines of the wood grain will show through in all the lighter colors of an image adding a level of depth to the wood print. By selecting Vintage Matte, a flat look to the wood will show through the image. The Natural Gloss, our most popular option, highlights a light sheen in the wood.

When printing with Vintage Matte or Natural Gloss, please keep the following in mind:

  • We do not print with white ink, so any area in your photo or art piece that is white will not be printed
  • Lighter colors will be more transparent and show more grain
  • Darker colors like black and blues will print more opaque and show less wood grain

What does Margin mean?

When selecting “Yes” under the Margin option, a border will be placed around your image. This will give the look of a “framed” image to your wood print. *** Please note, the border around the print will be the finish option you choose. EX: Bright White, will reflect a white border around your wood print, whereas Natural Gloss and Vintage Matte will have a wood grain border.

What resolution do you recommend per size of print?

We like to have all files to be 150 dpi at 100%, but we can use files at 75 dpi at 100%. You CANNOT go lower than this without having loss in quality of your print on wood.

What kind of wood do you use?

We use only the finest sustainable birch, maple, and bamboo plywood that we can find. We only use wood that is harvested from sustainable regions of the world.

What about the trees?

For every order Prints On Wood receives, we donate one square meter of rainforest to Cuipo, who purchases rainforest to set aside for preservation. Learn how you are helping save the rainforest one square meter at a time.

How thick is the wood you print on?

We offer three different thickness options:

6 mm / .25 (¼) inch
12 mm / .5 (½) inch
18 mm / .75 (¾) inch

How heavy are your prints?

What is included in the price of the print(s)?

When you purchase a custom wood print or an artist wood print, you receive a finished piece of artwork that is ready to hang on the wall immediately out of the box. Desktop size prints come with a unique desktop stand perfect for showcasing your favorite family photo or art piece.

How do I hang my Print on Wood?

6 mm / .25 (¼) inch wood prints come with an adhesive sawtooth hanger. Just stick the hanger on and it’s ready to hang right out of the box.

12 mm / .5 (½) inch and 18 mm / .75 (¾) inch prints come with a portrait or landscape keyhole on the back of each print for easy hanging directly from the box to the wall.

Does my print come with a desktop stand?

Yes. If you order a desktop size print in any of our three thickness options (4”x6”, 5”x7”, 6”x6”, 6”x12”, 8”x8”, 8”x10”, 8”x12”, 9”x12”, 10”x10”, 10”x15”, 11”x14”, 12”x12”), a handy desktop stand is included in your order at no additional cost.

What size prints are considered “desktop size”?

A print that fits nicely on your office desk, coffee table, countertop or more specifically, the following size prints:

4”x6”, 5”x7”, 6”x6”, 6”x12”, 8”x8”, 8”x10”, 8”x12”, 9”x12”, 10”x10”, 10”x15”, 11”x14”, 12”x12”

Do you have gift cards?

How can you charge such low prices?

We have been in the printing industry for a very long time with expert staff, cutting-edge equipment and infrastructure that allows us to offer a great product for an amazing price.

I need my print(s) fast! Can I pay an expedited fee to speed up the process?

Yes. We offer faster turn-around times on all wood prints. However, there is an added processing fee that varies from product to product. Please e-mail us your time frame, and we will begin your order immediately! support@printsonwood.com

Can you print more than one photo per piece of wood (ie. photo collage/montage)?

You can print what ever you like on any one piece of wood. If you need help with layout we charge a $50.00 per hour design fee.

How can I change or cancel my order?

Orders can be changed or cancelled if your order status shows "pending" or "processing" in your account status page. Custom prints on wood orders cannot be changed or cancelled once they have reached the "In Production" stage.

How do I take care of a wood print?

Taking care of a wood print is just as easy as taking care of any other fine-art piece--the same rules apply. Only use a damp 100% cotton or microfiber cloth when wiping dust off your prints. Do not get it wet. Do not scratch or wipe the front with abrasive materials. Do not clean or expose the piece to fire or any other damaging substance. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us (link here) before you make a purchase online.

Does the ink smear or run if it gets wet?

No, it will not smear if it gets wet. The printing method we use is durable. There is the possibility that ink may smear if you expose it to harsh cleaning chemicals or any other liquid besides water. Only use a damp 100% cotton or microfiber cloth when wiping dust off your prints.

Can I hang my print on wood in my bathroom?

Yes. Our wood prints have no problem with moisture. We have tested prints on wood in our own bathrooms, and they look great. If condensations builds up, wipe them off with a cloth or towel; no problem. Just be careful not to knock them off the wall!

How do I check the status of my order?

You can log into your account by clicking on "Account" at the top of this page. Once logged in, you can view your orders and status from the order review area. Use the links on the left-hand side in your account area.

How long will it take to ship my order?

Orders ship as they become ready. Custom "create your own" and featured artist wood prints usually ship out within 5 to 7 business days. Due to high volumes during holiday seasons, order processing time may be extended past the normal 5-7 business day turn around. Please call 951-684-3111 or e-mail us at support@printsonwood.com if your order is time sensitive.

Where can you ship orders?

We ship worldwide.

Do you offer international shipping?

Yes. We offer USPS shipping with tracking for all orders outside United States. Some selected prints also have a special flat rate, non-tracking USPS shipping rate, if applicable. You will see it available at the shopping cart. Please note that the flat shipping rates are based on individual boxes and usually fits one print per box. The flat rate, non-tracking shipments are "NO INSURANCE OPTION AVAILABLE" and is shipped at your own risk. If this option is selected and the package is lost or damaged in transit, there is no refund available. We would be happy to reprint the order and ship it to you again at your your cost.

Will I have to pay a fee to customs in my country?

Prints on Wood is not responsible for any customs or duty charges for shipping your print out side the United States. We have no idea of what these charges maybe per country.

Do you offer shipping insurance?

We can offer shipping insurance for an extra fee. Shipping insurance must be selected during checkout and cannot be added after checkout.

When do you charge my credit card?

Your credit card will be charged during checkout for the full amount of your order.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept credit cards and PayPal for all online orders.

Is my payment information secure?

Yes. Our website is PCI compliant, meaning the highest standards are in place to handle your payment data. We never store your credit card information on our website or in our database. All payments are processed directly through PayPal which uses fraud protection and payment screening methods to ensure the safety and protection of all payment and respective customer-related data.

Guarantee and Return Policy:

Why are there darker marks on my wood print?

Those marks you are referring to are the natural wood grain present in all wood prints. Because we are printing on an organic material, each piece will have its own unique markings, including different colors or marks in the wood. This is the uniqueness and beauty of printing on wood--each print a little different--an original, per se.

What is your guarantee and return policy?

Because each wood print is unique and made to order, we do not offer a return on any items unless the order was damaged during shipping or is defective.

What if I am unhappy with my Custom "Create Your Own" print?

We understand that there are many uncontrollable circumstances that may lead to dissatisfaction with your custom print on wood: Maybe the artwork or image does not look like how you imagined printed on wood. Unfortunately, each piece is custom and made to order, so we cannot offer a refund simply based on personal preference.

I've received my print(s) but would like to return them. How do I do this?

Please give us a call at 951-684-3111 or e-mail us at support@printsonwood.com with your concerns. We are happy to issue a return or send you another print if your order is damaged in shipping or is defective.

My print arrived scratched or damaged. What should I do?

First, please take a digital photo of the wood print that is damaged and the box the print arrived in. (UPS requires a photo(s) of the box for a claim to be processed.) E-mail the photos to support@printsonwood.com and a customer service representative will be with you within 24 hours.

Groupon Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to receive my order?

We do our best to process each order as quickly as possible, because of the amount of Groupon orders received at the same time, it can take up to 2 1/2 weeks for your order to ship. Your order will be updated with a tracking number once it has shipped.

Is shipping included in the price of my Groupon?

The Groupon is redeemable for the sizes highlighted on the Groupon voucher, shipping is not included.

I've received my print(s) but would like to return them. How do I do this?

All Groupon orders are Final Sale, no returns. But we are happy to send a re-print if your order is damaged in shipping.

My print arrived scratched or damaged. What should I do?
